The Complete Guide to Victoria, British Columbia

North 48

1005 Langley Street

Price Range: $$-$$$

Happy Hour: 4:00pm - 6:00pm, Tuesday to Saturday

North 48 is a downtown restaurant tucked away on Langley Street just between Government Street and Wharf Street. It's close to many attractions and Victoria’s main shopping area. It has been voted as one of Canada’s Best New Restaurants by Where Magazine.

The menu is eclectic, tasty and original with options from chicken and waffles to corn dogs and tacos. The menu has something for everyone. If you have children, North 48 boasts a side dish of macaroni and cheese that is a little too perfect. We challenge mom and dad to keep their own forks out of it.

The drinks menu is no slouch either. It has a great selection of wines, beers, and cocktails as well as a Tiki menu with a delicious, and sometimes lethal (I’m looking at you, Zombie), selection of rum-based drinks.

The room is comfortable and cozy with tongue-in-cheek culinary themed photos as decorations plus great music. On our last visit, they were playing old episodes of The Muppet Show on the TV by the bar.  They take reservations but also keep tables open for walk-ins. A great place to start your night or for a relaxing dinner.
