Mystic Beach

Time to explore: 2 - 3 hours

Time from Victoria: 1.5 hours

Mystic Beach is located in Juan de Fuca Provincial park near Sooke BC. With stunning views of the Salish Sea, it is worth the 1.5-hour trek from downtown Victoria. This is a very popular day-hike for locals.

The trail to Mystic Beach is located just off the China Beach day-use parking area. There are signs on the highway that indicate where to turn for the China Beach day-use parking.

It is a moderate 2km hike to the beach area. The trail has some hills, many tree roots to navigate and a suspension bridge to cross. The most difficult park of this trail is the first portion of the hike back up from the beach which encompasses many dozens of stairs.

This is a great family hike. Anyone from probably age 4-5 years or older can most likely navigate this trail.  For the little ones, an Ergo or hiking carrier of some sort is recommended as strollers will not go on this trail.

This beautiful hike, which marks the beginning (or the end) of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, will take about 45 minutes to the beach. The beach has both rocky and white sand beach areas. There is also a waterfall,  and a cave to explore along with magnificent views of the ocean.

Nearby you can find Shirley Delicious and the Cold Shoulder Cafe as well as China Beach.
