China Beach is a spectacular coastal location accessible via a short hike from the main parking area. Located near Sooke, BC in the Juan de Fuca Provincial Park this is an easy day trip from Victoria, approximately a one and a half hour drive.
After parking the car, there is a 30 minute easy to moderate hike to the beach. The forest walk is a lush green old-growth forest that itself is worth the drive. The trail ends on the beach where you'll be presented with stunning views of the Salish Sea.
Nearby you can explore the Jordan River, the village of Sooke, and the rest of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. If you continue down West Coast Road for another 45 minutes you will find Port Renfrew, a small port town that has excellent salmon and halibut fishing as some natural wonders of its own.
Even after you're done, the ride alone along the coast through the forests makes this a must for any Vancouver Islander's itinerary.
